You might say, Who is Keith??
Keith Boyd is a ten year old with many aspirations. Although he was born with Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects his mobility as well as his ability to speak, he doesn’t let that stop him from dreaming of the possibilities! He has been on an amazing journey in the last decade.
One of the highlights is having the honor of attending The Little Light House, a tuition free Christian school for children with special needs from ages two to six. During his time there he was learning and preparing for elementary school, but the most notable moment was when he received his high-tech eye gaze computer, which is a speech generating device. It opened up his world, he was finally able to participate in life by making his own choices. A truly life-changing moment! The opportunities he was given, and the love that he was shown, helped build his confidence and shape him for a successful future. Keith continues to be an active Alumni, attending events and raising funds to help support The Little Light House.
Since graduation, Keith has attended Skelly Elementary where he has been in class with his typically developing peers. He enjoys school and puts a lot of pride into his work as well as the relationships he builds.
Aside from school, he has been a guest speaker at the University of Tulsa on several occassions, speaking to students in the Speech and Language Pathology department about his experiences with developing skills on his communication device. His story has also been covered in different media outlets, such as Fox23 news, News on 6, Tulsa World, and Tulsa People Magazine.
